I'm not sure if it's bad luck or if I have some seriously negative newsletter karma, but AFTER I finish each week's article, I find the perfect food (or beverage in this case) for it. Now that I just finished the article Diet Soda: The Diet Killer, I found this perfect soda substitute. No artificial sweeteners, no sodium and tastes a whole lot like soda! I liked the two flavors I tried - lemon and orange - however this is available in pure, berry, cran-raspberry or lime that I'm totally dying to try. I found these at my local natural foods store for 50 cents a can. An all around awesome "soda" score!

I haven't tried these yet - I just found them online. However, I thought it was a worthwhile thing to put on Calorista given that its 0 calories, no carbs, gluten free, and according to reviews online, tastes much better than House Shirataki noodles. Can someone please write in who has tried these? I'm dying for the dish!

This zero-calorie FDA approved stevia-based sweetener is all natural and my personal favorite. It does not have the bitter aftertaste that pure, raw Stevia has, and has a tasty, natural sugar-like texture. I like it better than PureVia, as it has a more natural taste to me, however they are very close. Truvia is a product of Coca-Cola while PureVia is a product of Pepsi (we know how that taste test argument goes), both of which are a blend of rebiana (the sweetest part of stevia extracted) and sugar alcohols. To get more info about Stevia, I have written a full article: Stevia: The Latest on This Sweet Lil' Herb that has detailed information about this sweetener.

VitaminWater 10 has now become VitaminWater Zero, and I've heard mixed reviews. Some really don't like the taste of the new zero calorie version, but I have to say I do (although I've only tried grape raspberry so far). I have also recently become more accustomed to things tasting less sweet, as I've been working REALLY hard to cut back on sugar, something I'm encouraging all of my readers to do. One serving of this has 120% of the daily allowance of Vitamin C, and now 40% of the daily allowance of Vitamins B3, B5, B6 & B12! This is a vast improvement from the regular VitaminWater no doubt (which has 125 calories and 33 grams of sugar in the bottle)...but buyers still beware: there is no evidence that drinks containing supplemental vitamins and antioxidants have the same effect in the body as vitamins and antioxidants that come from pure, raw sources. (See my "superfood" article).
